The colorectal division is a sub-specialty of basic research, clinical research, and surgical treatment for various diseases that occur in the lower gastrointestinal tract (small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus). Clinical treatment of colorectal division is largely divided into malignant and benign diseases. Malignant diseases include colorectal cancer, anal cancer, small bowel cancer, including hereditary cancers such as hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer and familial adenomatosis. Benign diseases include inflammatory bowel disease, appendicitis, constipation, as well as anal disease such as hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, perianal abscess, rectal prolapse, incontinence. Currently, 5 professors, 1 Clinical professor, and 4-5 Fellows are affiliated with the colorectal division of Seoul National University Hospital. We are committed to basic and clinical research in the field of coloproctology, as well as the treatment of patients with colorectal and anal disease and the education of students and residents. |
